Simple Ideas to Spruce up your Summer Dining Table

Dreaming of dining al fresco? If you’re hosting friends and family this summer, we’ve got plenty of ideas to create an idyllic setting whatever the occasion. If you’re planning on impressing your guests, there are a few things to consider so you can stylishly and effortlessly bring your dining room outdoors.

Countryside Charm

A rustic wooden trestle table will work for any occasion. If understated elegance is the vibe you’re going for, keep the table bare but pay attention to beautiful, decorative table accessories. Vintage inspired glassware, platters and napkins will make it look like you’ve spent hours setting the table. Don’t forget to save some space for our delicious savoury snacks to keep your guests going until dinner is served! If you’re looking to elevate things, simply add a lightweight tablecloth which will transform your table in an instant. Any interior expert will tell you that lighting is key to set the mood, especially when dining outdoors. String lights add a soft, warm glow, whilst a flickering of candlelight creates a relaxing ambience and ensures that you and your guests can see what’s being served. Don’t forget to finish things off with freshly picked wild flowers from the garden, or potted herbs. Place these on and around your table to nod to the gorgeous nature that surrounds you.

Summer in the Suburbs

There is nothing like sharing good company (and a delicious barbecue!) in the summer months. Whether your backdrop is a lush, green garden or a well-kept patio or deck, it doesn’t take a lot to create a magic setting. If you haven’t got much space, opt for a neat tablecloth (don’t forget to iron it!), single cut flowers and simple dinnerware to add your finishing touches. If you’re looking for a way to use your glass jars and bottles before you leave them out for recycling, why not pop your flower sprigs or tea lights inside? All you’ll need to complete your garden party is a gorgeous menu. We recommend giving this easy Spicy Barbecue Tomato Salsa a go to get things off to a winning start.

Poolside Entertainment

Looking to host a relaxing, vacay-inspired gathering? Combine a patterned, linen table runner (we love stripes and gingham) with rattan or bamboo place mats and lanterns for a serene and natural table setting. Keep guests cool with yummy frozen treats, we’re loving these Ginger Ice Popsicles made with Gimber, new to our shop and packed with organic goodness. Family style, pass-down-the-table and share dishes are our favourite for this type of dinner party. These sweet potato and cheese croquettes are bound to make a splash!

City Sanctuary

If you’re in the city, vibrant decorations such as outdoor, bohemian style rugs and some much-needed greenery are the way to go to transform any small space into a delightful dining area. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got some comfy but space-saving seating, a small table (circular is your best bet to maximise space) and balcony or wall planters will allow you to add some colourful plants without compromising on valuable floor space. Decorative cushions, blankets and string lights will make everything feel cosy. Sounds like the perfect occasion for a cheese board full of our moreish, premium cheeses and glass of wine or a refreshing glass of low and no alcohol alternatives.
