Meet Rob Simpson, Award-Winning Mixologist

Rob Simpson is an award-winning mixologist with a 10 year reputation for stirring up impressive concoctions for London’s top bars and restaurants.

As a mixologist, I’m always looking for fresh new flavours to excite the tastebuds, and Milk & More have got just that – a brilliant selection of summer tipples, juices and tonics, in glass, and often returnable and reusable, too. In my opinion, a chilled drink always taste better in glass, whether it’s a simple sweet juice or something that’s just made for being shaken up in a cocktail.

Fruity-flavoured soft drinks delivered on Milk & More’s electric floats are a perfect base for cocktails and mocktails alike. From a fruity Cranberry Cooler to a classic Coco Colada, my original recipes will hopefully have you all shook up and ready for long happy summer days spent outdoors in the sunshine.

Q1: How did you get into mixology?

I found myself working with a couple of mega talented and enthusiastic hospitalitarians, they stoke the fire inside me that was the part that had always loved good food and good drinks. Slowly a wonder world of liquids was revealed to me and I dove in headfirst. I haven't looked back since.

Q2: What do you look for in a great ingredient?

Quality and complexity. Produce should be cared for; the people producing it (be it fruit, vegetables, beer or juice) should care about the result. When they do, the passion and energy shine through from that engagement and you can taste the result. Complexity is an important quality, it means it's versatile but will also keep you going back for more, discovering new flavours with every sip.

Q3:What are your favourite classic mocktails?

I love ice tea - such a versatile drink. Different teas, different sweeteners, different acids... endless possibilities.

Q4: Which mocktails best suit summer celebrations like barbecues, appetizers and relaxing in the sun?

Anything that can be made in a large format, like a pitcher, so that is easy to share and you can spend more time hosting. The Cranberry Cooler and Coco Colada are perfect for scaling up and sharing,

Q5: What snacks should you enjoy alongside these great mocktails?

With the Cranberry Cooler I'd go for something salty (as it's an aperitivo serve): olives or tsome tasty crisps.

WIth the Colada, something with a bit of spice and heat, as the coconut is perfect for cooling, some grilled sourdough topped with a spicy tomato salsa.
